Welcome to our Blog
Welcome to the Beech Class Blog page.
Here you will find information about what we have been doing and things that you could do to support learning.
PHONICS: We have been exploring Early Phonics activities. Our early phonics work concentrates on developing children’s speaking and listening skills and lays the foundations for further phonic progression. The emphasis during this early development is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills. These early skills are divided into different areas. Each contains three strands: Tuning in to sounds (auditory discrimination), Listening and remembering sounds (auditory memory and sequencing) and Talking about sounds (developing vocabulary and language comprehension).
P.E: This week we will be starting our Big Moves programme. This encourages a focus on developing your child’s core strength.
READING: Our first collection of books to share at home have no texts. This enables your child to develop their storytelling skills whilst focussing on their skills of observation and description.
WRITING: We have been working hard to write our names from memory and use the correct letter formation.
The Beech Class Staff are proud of how well all our new pupils have settled into school despite exceptional circumstances and necessary restrictions and routines due to the current situation.
We look forward to working with you to ensure your child has a smooth transition into their school life.
