CLASS 1 – Reminder – As your child is moving into class 2 next year they will need a shirt and tie after the October half term break for the winter uniform. The ties can be obtained from the office or online.

Rest of school

Please ensure your child wears the winter uniform after the October half term break. They may, if they wish, wear it beforehand but must wear it between October half term and Easter. Thank you. Orders can be placed in the office in September or online.

Our Thoughts in Prayers

Gareth Davies led Collective on the theme of Humility

Mandir Trip

As part of class 1 and 2‟s topic this term they visited a Mandir in Leicester. After speaking with the children it was clear that they really enjoyed themselves. This is what Ruby and Edward thought.

“I was very excited! We got to look at the Gods they pray to. The strongest God had 8 arms and a tiger to ride on.”
“They have lots of Gods to choose from. We got to look at the Gods while the people were praying.”
“When the Hindu people pray they do songs for each God.”
“I learnt that when ladies get married they have to wear black beads around their neck. I was interested in how they pray.”

On Thursday 26th June, Lucy-Ann, Maisie, Mitzi, Sean, Jon-Jo and Joe T played a netball match against North Kilworth. We played very well but at the end lost 10-4. The first half the score was 8-0; however, we came back and scored a fabulous 4 goals when they scored 2. We were all very tired after it had finished and luckily Mrs Cunliffe brought in some refreshing sweets. At the end of the day we were all very pleased with our score as they were a really hard team to play against. By Lucy-ann Year 5

St-Mary's-4405On Thursday the 26th June some people went to John Wycliffe field to play years 3 / 4 rounders tournament. We played four different schools, for the first match we played Sherrier but unfortunately we lost. Also in the second match we played Swinford and unfortunately we lost again. Then we were out of the tournament and played two friendly matches.

The first match we played against Husbands Bosworth and we won. After that we played Claybrooke but we lost. Overall we won one game which is better than nothing. The more games we played the more we improved as we made half rounders instead of stopping at first post. We really enjoyed playing against the other schools! By Summer-Lily and Harriet Y4

Kwik Cricket was really fun but it needed a lot of hard work to win the game. Our first game was against Ullesthorpe when we won by 11 runs and our second game we just won against Dunton Bassett by 3 runs. Then we got in the final and unfortunately didn‟t quite beat Claybrooke. The score was 240 – 244 runs. It was all very close but we‟re all proud of ourselves for coming second place. Finley got the most runs out of the team but me, James, Erin, Emma-Louise, Thomas, Rahul and Fynn did very well too. We hit 9 boundaries including 2 sixes. As we played more matches we got used to the weight of the ball and how hard to hit it. By Max Year 4

On Thursday 26th June, Lucy-Ann, Hannah, Joanne, Mitzi, Alex, Myles and Baxter went to play as a recorder ensemble at Inglehurst Infant School in Leicester. We played some ensemble pieces and some duets for the 200 children. They really enjoyed our playing and sang along to some of the songs we played like „Old MacDonald‟. There were also some adults that played with us and on their own. We had a great time! The headteacher and children thanked us by giving us flowers and a card that the children made for us. By Lucy-Ann and Hannah. Year 5

A huge thank you to those parents who have volunteered over the past year to transport children to, and from, sporting events. We like to offer as many opportunities to children as possible but can only participate if children can get to the venue. Where possible we organise a home match.

This time of year we always have lots of sporting events as the weather is, generally, better.

Organising the transportation takes some time and when there are several matches in one week as you can imagine this takes up far more time. If anyone is interested in helping to co-ordinate this next year for an event their child is participating in please do let the office know, especially as many parents know each other both in and out of school.

All children must have a named PE kit in school every day of the week. This includes footwear, white shorts and white t-shirt. Please note that the PE kit is white and coloured or patterned shorts and shirts must not be worn. T Shirts are available from the office. In the new school year we will be providing children who will represent the school in tournaments such as rounders or kwik cricket with a kit.

Please ensure that your child brings home their musical instruments after lessons as we need the space in which they are stored during the day of the lesson for teaching and other activities. Thank you for your help.

As from September 2014 all children in class 1 and class 2 will be entitled to free school dinners. This means that no money is required when you return the Menu Choices. We still need the menu choices returned a week before so orders can be placed. If you have any queries please contact the office. Thank you
